In short: Kneat Gx is the most widely adopted digital validation platform in life sciences and, for large multi-site organisations, a well-earned default. Qualitum does not replace it. Qualitum sits above it, automating the authoring, review and traceability work that validation teams still perform manually inside any digitised platform — and doing so on infrastructure the customer controls.
Where Kneat is genuinely strong
There is no useful version of this article that understates Kneat. As of Q1 2026 Kneat reported annual recurring revenue of CAD 76.4 million, up 20% year over year, on revenue of CAD 18.0 million for the quarter and a 78% gross margin. Management has stated that most ARR growth came from existing customers expanding their usage, with net recurring revenue reported at 115%. Those are the numbers of a platform that customers keep buying more of after they have lived with it.
Three things follow from that, and they are real advantages:
- Proven at enterprise scale. Kneat has been deployed across multi-site, multi-discipline validation programmes for years. The implementation risk is well understood.
- Breadth of validation discipline. Kneat covers computer system validation, commissioning and qualification, equipment, facility, utility, process and method validation within one platform, in a 21 CFR Part 11 and EudraLex Annex 11 compliant environment.
- Deliberate, auditable AI. Kneat has been explicit that its AI capabilities are built around deterministic, auditable controls for regulated environments. That is the correct instinct, and it is the standard any AI entrant should be held to — including us.
If your organisation needs to move from paper to a digital validation system of record, Kneat is a serious answer to that question.
The question Kneat is not designed to answer
Digitisation and automation are different problems.
A digitised validation process is one where the protocol, the execution record, the deviation and the signature all live in a controlled electronic system instead of a binder. That is a large and worthwhile gain: no lost documents, no wet-ink routing, no reconciliation of parallel paper copies, and an audit trail that exists by default.
But the work of writing a user requirements specification, deriving a risk assessment from it, generating test cases that cover every requirement, maintaining the traceability matrix as requirements change, reviewing the whole set for internal consistency, and assembling the validation summary report — that work is still performed by qualified people, one document at a time. Digitisation changes where that work is recorded. It does not change how much of it there is.
That is the gap Qualitum operates in.
How Qualitum works alongside Kneat
Qualitum is an agentic layer that produces validation content, and hands it to whatever system holds the record.

The practical consequence: your validation system of record does not change, your SOPs do not have to be rewritten around a new platform, and your team stops spending its senior hours on first-draft document production.
Adaptive methodology: fitting the tool to the organisation
Most validation platforms carry an opinion about how validation should be done, and adopting the platform means adopting the opinion. Some organisations welcome that — a company with an inconsistent validation practice across twelve sites may want the platform to impose a standard.
Qualitum takes the opposite approach. The methodology is fitted to the organisation's existing resources and flows, not the other way round.
That means:
- Your GAMP 5 categorisation logic, risk scoring model and document templates are what the agents work to — not a vendor-default set you have to justify to your quality unit.
- Where a client has deep validation resource, Qualitum takes the drafting and consistency load and leaves judgement with the team. Where a client is resource-constrained, the scope of what the agents carry extends further.
- Deployment adapts to the estate rather than requiring it to be reshaped.
This is delivered through forward-deployed engineering rather than a configuration questionnaire. The reason is straightforward: a validation practice is a reflection of an organisation's history, its inspection record and its risk appetite. It is not a settings screen.
Where Qualitum is different in kind
Three axes, stated plainly:
Automation rather than digitisation. Kneat's core claim is a validated digital environment for validation work. Qualitum's is that the work itself is substantially performed by agents under human approval. These are complementary claims, not competing ones.
Private AI by default. Qualitum is deployment-agnostic and the customer controls which model is used and where inference happens — including fully within the customer's own environment. Validation content is among the most sensitive documentation a manufacturer holds. For organisations operating under EU data-residency expectations or internal policies that prohibit sending regulated content to third-party model providers, this is frequently the deciding factor rather than a feature.
Quality engineering around the model. Qualitum treats the underlying language model as an interchangeable component. The output quality comes from the layer built around it — evaluation suites, guardrails, multi-pass sampling, benchmarks and proprietary validated reference data.
Honest limitations
- Kneat has years of multi-site enterprise deployments behind it. Qualitum does not.
- Kneat is the system of record; Qualitum is not, and is not trying to be. If you do not have a digital validation system today, you need one, and this article is not an argument against buying one.
- Agent-generated validation content requires human review and approval. Qualitum reduces the volume of authoring work; it does not remove the qualified reviewer from the process, and any vendor claiming otherwise in a GxP context should be asked to put that in writing.
